For those who haven't heard the news, after more than ten years of being hunted down by the U.S. forces, Osama bin Laden, the founder of al-Qaeda and the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, has been killed in a gunfight by American ground forces in a compound in the heart of Pakistan.

President Obama made the announcement and confirmed bin Laden's death late last night in a quick address of sorts from the White House.
I think that this will be a huge boost to U.S. President Obama's re-election chances, and I've noticed this morning that the American dollar has risen quite dramatically at this news. However, as I understand it from the morning papers and news reports, U.S. relations with Pakistan may have been marred somewhat, as the Pakistanis were only told about the death of bin Laden after it occurred.
