Gaming and Pain

Since the doctors at the hospital (see this journal entry for my night's stay there) told me to go about my normal life, using the Dilaudid as necessary, I held the regular session of the Friday night gaming group last night.

The group is continuing their Desolation rpg campaign, that has been on hold since the death of my friend SteveB, other than a couple of playtest sessions for the Primeval scenario I'll be running at CanGames (hopefully) and a session of Hellcats and Hockeysticks (that you can read about here). I have to say that I'm quite surprised at how when you're enjoying something, the physical discomfort that you're in gets pushed to the back of your mind even if only for a little while. Of course, it nails you again later, but such is the pleasure-and-pain reward system for these things, I guess.

The gamers had a pretty good time, often commenting on how the drug seems to be making me very mellow, and rather enjoyed the session. The new player, David, had a good time in the session, and said he really likes the game, and the folks that he's playing with. I'll write more about this game session when I finally catch up on the writing of game session synopses at some point, so you'll have to wait until then for more details.

In the meantime, my painful day goes on.
