I went to a chiropractor for the first time on the 11th of May, and have seen her now four times in the last seven days. (Will write a separate blog on the experience when I get a chance, and if someone here reminds me from time to time to do so.) She did an assessment on me that was somewhat hindered by the inflammation, but concluded that the sciatica is due to a slipped disc, and I was able to go for an x-ray yesterday because the swelling is down enough that I could "pose" for said pictures. I also went to the doctor last week, and he finally decided to set up an MRI for me, but I haven't heard back on that yet. Don't expect to for a bit, I guess.
The sciatica is still present and the pain is still there, but it's not at the level that it was, and I'm no longer taking the pms-hydromorphone on her advice. I'm taking Robaxacet, and taking it as easy as I can while still going about doing stuff. Also on her advice. Given that the pain is neurological, acetaminophen and the like doesn't really do all that much for it, but with the chiropractor's treatment, the pain is somewhat manageable.
The weather in Ottawa has been cool and rainy, and I suspect the damness and cold have not helped my condition too much either. Having a lot of problems sleeping, since I can't lie on my back or my right side, and I don't sleep too well on my stomach for various reasons. Ugghh!
The chiropractor told me that I should be able to attend CanGames this coming weekend, but we'll see. It's going to depend on the pain levels and how I'm feeling at the end of the week. Just look for the guy with a pillow behind his back on the chair, and that'll be me. :)
In the meantime, I've been able to do some gaming on the weekends, although it's a somewhat painful experience. Both gaming groups have been good about this, and have helped with setting things up and the like. (I'll be writing the catch-up posts on the two gaming groups as soon as I'm able, but this may not be for a while, depending.) I'm also doing some work for the office as well. Can't spend too much time on the computer at the moment, as you can imagine.
That's all I've got for now.
