I just want to say that I'm glad that I've got you folks to chat with about stuff, and that I'll be blogging a bit more about the diagnosis once I've put things into perspective and have had a chance to get my head together about stuff.
I didn't sleep well last night, for obvious reasons, but came in to work somewhat early this morning as I've got a lot of stuff on my desk here, and I also have to leave early in the afternoon for a Footcare Clinic appointment. Life goes on and all that stuff, and I do need to have my feet taken care of approximately once per month.
After the footcare appointment, I'll be coming back to work for another hour or two, as I've got both Friday and Monday off for the Canada Day weekend (not to mention my birthday this Sunday of course), and I want to get a bit of extra work done before the weekend, since next week promises a bit of hectic stuff as well.
As most folks know, William and Kate arrive in Ottawa this morning, and the city is gearing up for an extra-special Canada Day weekend here. On the down side, there's a lot of road closures and places that will be inaccessible this weekend due to the royal visit, but that's all right, as I have no real plans to go to Parliament Hill or anything like that for Canada Day. It'll be interesting to read the news of the Royal visit and to hear anecdotes from people about the Royals and some of the stuff that will go on this weekend.
Oh, and I've arranged to get my two birthday cakes (yes, there will be two blackforest cakes this year, but they're smaller and rectangular in shape) on Sunday, so as to have them. There is the strong temptation to devour both of the cakes myself, given the way I'm feeling right now, but I'm sure that I'll be able to overcome that desire. Especially since I have to save some cake for the Friday group, and need to have some slices in reserve for other occasions.
