depressedJack Layton Loses Battle with Cancer
Jack Layton, the man who took the NDP from an afterthought and largely felt to be a joke party to the official Opposition in Canadian Parliament while fighting cancer, has succumbed to it early this morning.
This is a terrible loss both for the NDP and Canadian politics. As one friend of mine put it, the NDP has a terribly long road ahead of it to build a party that can maintain its gains in the face of the loss of so charismatic and valiant a leader and man.
Rest in Peace, Jack Layton. You will be sorely missed.
