Here is the gist of a message that I posted on the Airship Pirates PBeM game mailing list:

Hullo, folks,
Okay, I've been thinking about this for the last two days, and I've been struggling with the words to say this...
Over the last few days, notably the weekend period, I've been feeling as if I've lost control of the Play By e-Mail game that I've set up here. The discussions and posts I've read over the past few days indicate that you folks are just going your own direction without any seeming interest in the overall picture, and while I know that I've been frustrated somewhat by this experience, I know of a couple of other players who are in the same boat.
I didn't sign up for the way this game has been going so far, have no idea any more what my purpose or role in this game will be, and I realise that part of this is my own mistake. So I'm not making excuses here. But I have no idea how to right this ship (no pun intended) and what with my schedule for stuff and the fact that I'm disillusioned by this game so far, to the point that I don't care whether the ship gets righted or not, so... I've come to a decision.
I am not going to run this game. If someone wants to take over as moderator and owner of this game and mailing list, please e-mail me as soon as possible, and I'll switch the game over to that person, who can manage the list and make the rules that he wants to use for the list. If I do not hear from anyone in this regard by no later than Thursday, September 27th, 6:00 am Eastern time, I will just delete the mailing list, and it will be as if the game never happened.
'Nuff said. I now return to (and allow you folks to get back to) Real Life(tm) for the nonce.

For those who care about these things, there were other factors that went into this, personal issues that I'm not going to discuss here or anywhere else, but suffice it to say one of the players in the game has taken over as Owner and/or Moderator of the mailing list for the game. Several of the players were annoyed and disappointed with me about this, and I hope that they get over this feeling, but I have done what I had to do in the circumstances. This does not mean that my personal, face-to-face campaigns of Abney Park's Airship Pirates games will not continue, and I may decide somewhere down the line to run another Airship Pirates PBeM game.
Anyway, I wish the players in the PBeM game well, and have nothing further to say on the subject of this particular PBeM game.
