Aftermath of Tuesday Night

Woke up this morning feeling very disoriented and somewhat out of sorts. Still had a slight case of the shakes, no doubt due to the harrowing events of coming home from Geology class last night (for those who haven't read it, see last night's journal entry).

While the temperature has dropped somewhat here in Ottawa today, the windchill is absolutely brutal as I discovered this morning when I grabbed the newspaper off the front door ledge. My car was coated in a good rime (is that the right word?) of ice, and the ground was very icy and slick. Not wanting to take a chance going out on that, I called work and said I was working from home today. My boss was fine with that, and so this is what I am doing.

I've still got to go to school tonight, of course, and am trying to figure out how to do this, given that it's supposed to snow again either later today or this evening, and I don't really want to drive the car after yesterday's experience. I'll probably take a taxi or some such to school tonight.

Anyway, should get back to work now. May try to go and try to clean the car off today, as I do have a footcare appointment to go to on Thursday, so will need the car for work and that. Besides, I do need to go outside to check the snail mail.

"Rime" works for me, now that I've looked it up.

I've got to finish working on the front walk and driveway later today, myself. I walk and take the bus just about everywhere, but there's still those safety considerations for guests and other visitors, right?

Yep, the word "rime" does work in this case; I looked it up myself when I had a moment or two.

You would think the condo would have the safety of the folks who live in the houses here on their minds, but nope. Gonna bring this up at the next condo meeting, I think.

That said, my fear of icy conditions just elevated several levels the past few days.

Probably a Good Idea to raise the issue with the condo association, and I'd be willing to bet that you won't be lacking in support once the point's raised.

Yep, gonna raise it at the next condo meeting.
