R.I.P. Jean "Moebius" Giraud (1938-2012)

Sad news today in the science fiction and fantasy world of art.

Jean "Moebius" Giraud has died at the age of 73 due to an illness.

Famed French Cartoonist Moebius Succumbs to Illness

I first heard the name Moebius back in the days when I was reading Métal Hurlant, a magazine that he co-created later brought to life in an English edition called Heavy Metal. He worked in various media and has so many credits and projects to his name that many of us know (even if we didn't know it was his work at the time) that you should check out a list of all the stuff that he's done over the years. Moebius's work has influenced my gaming in many ways over the years, and his loss is a tough one for the sf and fantasy (not to mention horror) communities.

You can check out Moebius's offical web site (en Francais, of course) at the link.

Rest In Peace, Jean "Moebius" Giraud. And thank you for all you've done for the field.
