Thoughts for A New Month

September 1st. A new month. The Labour Day weekend.

I'm glad that August is over and done with, since I didn't have a great August. (Come to think of it, the last couple of months were not that good.) I was depressed most of August due to the events at the beginning of July, and the fact that I didn't get to go to Gen Con Indy, 2007, ad the business with my knee didn't really help my mood or attitude for the month. (The knee is coming along, but there are days when it is very bad.)

In terms of the good stuff that happened in August, well.. I kept my weight stable at about 196 lbs. (I'm 5 feet, 9 inches tall, for those who want to know), and my blood glucose has pretty much stabilized, but it's not low enough for my taste, so we'll see what the doctors say over the next few months about that. When I get depressed and moody the way I've been most of August, I don't tend to eat healthily, and have not really done so for much of July and August - not so much eating bad food, but eating stuff that I shouldn't be eating, and eating too much of it. The stable weight may be due to the medication that I'm on, but I'll take that in a positive fashion.

Reading-wise, I didn't do as much reading this past month as I would have liked. I managed to read Mother Aegypt and Other Stories by Kage Baker (yes, I know I'm behind on her titles, but I really space them apart in reading, as I like to savour them), Space, Inc. edited by Julie E. Czerneda (which I didn't enjoy all that much) and the first three volumes in John Maddox Roberts' S.P.Q.R. series, which I've been meaning to get to for some time, but hadn't read. The first couple of books I will read in September are going to be the fourth Maddox Roberts' book and Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth, a re-read that I've been meaning to do for some time.

Comics-wise, spross and I will be picking up our comics today. I tend to pick up comics once per month, at the end of the month, so that will be today. As a result, I haven't read any of August's titles, but I'm looking forward to reading the Booster Gold new book, as well as a couple of my regular sub titles.

In gaming, the Friday night gaming group continues to play and all, and they're doing a really good job and enjoying themselves immensely in Hollow Earth Expedition right now. The Sunday group isn't playing at the moment, due to vacations and the like and other circumstances. I've had a few folks express interest in joining the Sunday group of gamers, so they might get an influx of new blood and start to play more regularly. I've got several on-going projects for the game right now, and will also be running a demo of HEX at the end of the month (more on that later this week, if I remember), so gaming life is good.

What with the debut of the new Fall tv schedule this month, my trip to Paris for work, and the demo, it promises to be a full month. I'm rather looking forward to a relatively good September, and am taking a positive outlook on this new day.

About to go out for a walk, and then do a bit of shopping before I get into the comics mood today. Have a great wekend, all. :)
