Bionic Woman - Talk about dark and edgy. Michelle Ryan (formerly of Jekyll and EastEnders) plays the new Jaime Sommers. Gone are the days of the tennis pro, instead we have a bartender with a whole lot of stuff going on in her life. The story was interesting, I was surprised to see Miguel Ferrer (of Crossing Jordan fame) here, and Katie Sackhoff (formerly of Battlestar Galactica) was in this one too as the first bionic woman gone bad. Based on the first episode, the series has potential but feels like the original Bionic Woman meets Dark Angel meets Terminator. Looks promising, but I don't know whether I want to spend time investing in this series.
Private Practice - the spin-off series from Grey's Anatomy featuring Kate Walsh's Addison Montgomery, started off last night and had some interesting stuff in it. Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, and Amy Brenneman are in it, as well as some unknowns. The first episode (which was based on the pilot from last season in one of the Grey's Anatomy's episodes was pretty good, and offered some of the humour that the original series had in its first season. The chemistry among the characters seems to be quite good, and the Oceanside Wellness Clinic looks like it will offer some truly interesting medical elements (based on the first episode, at any rate). Overall, the series looks like it will be worth watching for the first few episodes to see what direction this one goes in.
The absolute irony is that Isaiah Washington (formerly of Grey's Anatomy) will be appearing in five episodes, possibly more, of Bionic Woman, and both shows air simultaneously here on Canada.
And on a final note, the episode of Jekyll that aired last night was simply marvellous, and had so many plot twists and turns that it had me reeling at the end. James Nesbitt and Gina Bellman just keep getting better and better in this series. 'Nuff said. :)
