Friday after work, I went and did some grocery shopping, and met a couple of friends, Allan and Nickie Armstrong, that I hadn't seen in a good five years or so. They're both doing well, and have a couple of cute kids. We had a bit of time on our hands, so went to a Tim Horton's for a coffee and donuts, and caught up with each other.
After getting home, I had a simple dinner of chicken schnitzel with salad and cauliflower rice, and then headed out to the west end of the city to Kathy and SteveB's place to game for the evening. Since the group had finished up the Dying Earth scenario the week before, we had decided to play a quick, one-evening scenario of Faery's Tale (the lovely game published by Firefly Games), before doing another Dying Earth game, after which we're going to move on to the fantasy noir The Edge of Midnight (published by Edge of Midnight Press). Faery's Tale went really well for the four-and-a-half hours that we played, and it was a simple rescue scenario in the Mushroom Forest, involving caterpillars.
SteveB and Kathy had pestered me during the week about introducing the newest gamer to the group, Joanne, to the film noir genre, and so I caved in and we watched the delicious 82 minutes long Gun Crazy, a movie that many believe was the inspiration for Bonnie and Clyde. Kathy had never seen this one, either, and both she and Joanne loved the femme fatale of the piece, a hitwoman-like Annie Oakley. All in all, a good night...but I didn't get home until around 1:30 am or so. Still a good night. :)
Today, Saturday, has been pretty mundane. I've been doing a bit of work on several of my the pages for my forthcoming Edge of Midnight set of webpages. The afternoon has been spent roasting a chicken for supper and to have for the week, and watching the NHL hockey game between the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens. One of the best games I've seen in quite some time, with the Sens beating the Habs 3-1 in a game that saw a bit of everything.
Anyway, now it's off to get some of the other food ready for cooking. Tonight's plan is simple: I'm going to read a few more stories from the Murder by Magic anthology edited by Rosemary Edghill. Good stuff so far, and really enjoying the tales in this one.
