Thunderbirds Creator Gerry Anderson Dies
Gerry Anderson, creator of the Thunderbirds and other series, has died at the age of 83, his son, Jamie, announced. Anderson had been suffering from Alzheimer's Disease since early 2010, and his condition had worsened in the past six months. Jamie Anderson announced the news on his website, http://www.jamieanderson.me.uk/, saying his father had died peacefully in his sleep at noon on Wednesday.
For me, this really goes back to my youth (so to speak). Supercar (1961-1962), Fireball XL-5 (1962-1963), Stingray (1964-1965), Thunderbirds (1965–66), Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons (1967–68), UFO (1970–71), Space: 1999(1975–77), and several other of his series are some of my favourite works from the 1960s and 1970s.
Rest In Peace, Gerry Anderson. You've earned it.
But sadly, Thunderbirds are (no longer) go. :(
