Ray Harryhausen has died. He was 92.
Ray Harryhausen, Master of Stop Motion Animation, Dies
Harryhausen was the legendary master of stop-motion effects who was responsible for the tremendous visuals of Clash of the Titans (1981), the magnificent battle between three actors and the seven living skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts, among others. For me, it was a different movie that I'll remember Harryhausen for. I absolutely adored the re-make of One Million Years B.C. from 1967, that was filled with Harryhausen's marvellous, anachronistic saurians. In that age before the virtual worlds of CGI came round, Ray Harryhausen made magic by imperceptible, stop-motion degrees, here in the real world.
Rest In Peace, Ray Harryhausen. You earned it. The stop-motion dinosaur is done.
I'll miss you, and your work. And Hollywood's star is now slightly dimmer.
